Ledges Retreat is a peaceful guest farm in the Northern Drakensberg, conveniently located close to the Royal Natal National Park, home of the Drakensberg Amphitheatre and the Tugela Falls.
The resort itself is situated in a beautiful valley and surrounded by mountains, with stunning views of the Sungubala, Hlolela and Sugar Loaf peaks. The Putterill River meanders along the bottom of the property and is a children’s paradise, with plenty of rock pools to splash around in. We also have a swimming pool and trampoline that are perfectly positioned for you to take in the views.
Ledges Retreat offers bed and breakfast or self-catering accommodation in a beautiful location that gives you both the space to unwind, as well as a base from which to explore this incredible area.
Nearby Royal Natal National Park offers a variety of hikes that showcase the incredible beauty of our area. Also close by is All Out Adventures, a great day out for the family with a zip line, bungee bounce, quad biking, kids’ zone, coffee shop and more! Tower of Pizza is 8kms away for great pizzas, and the Oak and Ale Pub and Restaurant at Hlalanathi (7kms) has a cozy pub and big screen for sports! Play a round of golf at Amphitheatre Golf Course at Hlalanathi, or let the kids zip down their newly built super-tube in the summer time!
Out-rides can be booked at the Northern Horse Stables at Montusi, and if you are a keen mountain biker, we are surrounded by 150kms of world class mountain biking trails. And of course, if you prefer you can simply walk along the numerous trails that surround us and enjoy the fresh air and soul-restoring beauty of the countryside.
Please note: As well as breakfast, we can also provide dinner, however advance notice is required. If you would like dinner on your day of arrival, please let us know by 11am on the day you arrive so that we can prepare. Bookings for breakfast and dinner are essential.
Come and explore the highest mountain range in Southern Africa -the Drakensberg Mountain Range. The range stretches over 300km and has many different areas, with spectacular scenery and a number of activities. The Northern section of the Drakensberg is the highest section of the mountain range, with many of its peaks exceeding 3000 meters. The mountains form the border between South Africa and the mountain kingdom of Lesotho.

Highlights include SA's fastest Cable Tour, Adventure Quad Trails, 150kms of marked mountain bike trails, and a hair-raising 17metre free fall King Swing accessed by a wooden, spiral stair case that snakes 21 metres to the tree tops! Relax at the coffee shop after while the kids enjoy the kids' zone.

Only a 30 minute drive , up the scenic Oliviershoek Pass. Sterkfontein Dam is a nature reserve with Herds of game and is a fisherman's paradise.
· Bookings are only confirmed once a 50% deposit has been received (or the full amount should the stay be 14 days, or less, away).
· For one night bookings, the full amount is payable as a deposit.
· The deposit is payable within 5 days of provisionally booking. If we do not receive your deposit, we reserve the right to cancel your booking.
· The remaining 50% is payable within one week of your arrival date.
If cancellation occurs 7 days or less before arrival date, forfeit 100% of booking total.
If cancellation occurs 14 days or less before arrival date, forfeit 100% of deposit.
If cancellation occurs 21 days or less before arrival date, forfeit 50% of deposit.
If cancellation occurs 30 days or less before arrival date, forfeit 25% of deposit.

Please note we do not allow parties/events of any kind. We are a small resort and require guests to keep noise levels to a minimum. No music allowed.
